Mark Hopkins

Over the course of 11 years the Acadia New Music Society promoted contemporary concert music in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. Co-Directed by Derek Charke and Mark Hopkins, the ANMS presented10 annual New Music Festivals called SHATTERING THE SILENCE. The ANMS successfully presented 50+ concerts by professional guest artists, Facult on the Acadia University School of Music, and students.  There were over 40 world premiere performances plus local and national CBC national broadcasts.  The ANMS initiated the creation of three CD’s, and hosted multiple composers, musicians, and ensembles. Most of all, we have presented a fantastic collection of Canadian artists over these years.
